See flyer: Global Librarianship at UNC
Tuesday, March 4th, Davis Library Room 214, 2:00-3:30PM.
- Mellanye Lackey (Director of Global Engagement, Health Sciences Library) will speak about how the HSL is collaborating with education and researchers in Malawi, Uganda, the Water Institute and a new initiative in China, as well as how Global Health came to be important to the Health Sciences Library.
- Jacqueline Solis (Coordinator of Liaison Services, Davis Library) will speak about the International Librarians Network (ILN), a peer-mentoring program that matches librarians and LIS students with an international partner who has similar professional interests. ILN provides a framework for communications between the partners by offering monthly suggested topics of discussion, a blog with posts by members, and an active Twitter feed. It is a great way to meet and learn from librarians in other places and to increase your international professional network.
- Cynthia Reifsnider (Director of Research Services and Knowledge Management, Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise) will speak about global librarianship in business settings, including working with a globally distributed team and considerations for conducting research at the global level. She will also discuss how the UNC/KFBS Frank Hawkins Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise supports North Carolina’s entrepreneurial drive in a global context through its Patent Landscaping and Market Evaluation program.
- Edward Proctor (Librarian for South and Southeast Asian Studies at Duke and UNC) will also join us for a brief panel discussion following the three presentations.
